Ian Padley: Crepe Blade Wear Modelling

Global Solutions Team Mgr, Tissue BTG, Switzerland

Biography: A graduate in Applied Chemistry from the Sheffield Hallam University, Ian moved to his first papermaking role as a process development engineer in a board mill.  In the early 1990’s he moved to an engineering company, responsible for process system PID design and paper machine start-ups, followed by a chemical sales and service role covering a territory in the North West of England.  In the early 2000’s, this company, by now Hercules, created a specialist tissue application group, and Ian moved there, eventually managing the team, before moving on to be the global tissue marketing manager.

Recruited in 2010 by BTG to assist the expansion of their tissue program, he is now the Global Solutions Team manager for tissue, leading an expert engineering team to develop solutions for tissue makers across the whole range of BTG platforms from his base in Scotland.  He is a frequent conference speaker on tissue technology subjects (9 times Tissue World) and has a number of publications in PPI, Paper Technology and TWM.
