6. Crown Paper starts up PM2

At the end of July Crown Paper Mill started up its new 80 ton/day PM2 tissue machine at Ajman in the UAE. The start-up of the 2.75 m machine was described as “successful” and the machine is making saleable paper. Commercial running speed of the new machine will be 1700 m/min.

In the initial phase, the machine is running on virgin pulp. A new Comer deinking plant is due to start in November, however, offering the option of wholly or partly recycled furnish.

The company will sell jumbo reels to converters in the domestic market but is also expected to export some tonnage within the region.
